Local Greetings Cards
Local Dairy Farmer Rich Cornock has created his own greetings cards, using photographs taken at New House Farm in Tytherington.
The farm is run with great consideration for wildlife conservation, and the set of four cards reflects this.
The cards are now available to buy at the shop.
Volunteers needed for all shifts
The shop is run by volunteers but needs more to be able to continue with its current opening hours, particularly at weekends.
If you are interested in helping either on a casual or regular basis to cover 2hr shifts, please speak to Debbie in the shop or on 417618 or 07850 209574 to discuss the days and times at which you could help.
If Debbie is not available, please leave your contact details and she will contact you as soon as possible.
Tytherington Village Shop Association
The fourteenth AGM was well attended. The shop and Tytherington Outreach Post Office had a successful year in 2011/2012 with the accounts showing a small profit - an overall improvement on the previous year.
A small extension to the shop has been built allowing for better storage of stock and an area to prepare in the future hot and cold drinks/sandwiches etc for passing trade.
The additional opening hours of the post office (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday mornings and Wednesday afternoon) contributed towards increased use of the post office.
A copy of the Minutes of the AGM, the Chairman’s reports and the accounts are available to read in the shop.
The TVSA Committee wishes to thank its customers for their support of both the shop and post office and hope they will continue to do so over the coming year.
A Year on a Dairy Farm
Richard Cornock, from Tytherington's New House farm, has also published his first book, and you can buy your copy at the village shop.
In a beautiful and diverse collection of photographs, A Year on a Farm captures the day to day workings of a family-run farm. Tree planting, hedge laying, ploughing fields, planting maize, making hay, calving cows, picking fruit: these are all activities which make up the farming year, set against the striking changing landscape of the region.
As well as depicting the various activities which make up farming life, A Year on a Dairy Farm introduces the characters that make it happen, and the animals, farm, domestic and wild, which are the lifeblood of the farm. Originally intended as a very personal book for immediate family only, A Year on a Farm is a perfect record of what makes a dairy farm tick at all times of the year and in all weathers.
