Brand new copier in the shop!

As promised at the shop AGM, we have now been able to buy a new copier for general use, to replace our existing worn-out machine. This is thanks to our improving finances, together with a generous donation from the Marquee Committee.

The copier can provide A3 as well as A4, double sided copying, and it will reduce and enlarge. We hope everyone will find it useful.

Post Office fund raising

Thank you to everyone who is supporting the Bonus Ball Draw. It is going well and all numbers are allocated for this 10-week period from April 19 – June 21.

If you missed it this time, there will be another chance later in the year, when we hope to run it again. We are publicising names of winners on the shop door.

Tytherington Village Shop Association

At our recent committee meeting, we planned our fund raising activities to support the Post Office for the coming year - 2014.

You can enjoy a cream tea on Saturday July 12 and there will be a Race Night in September – Saturday 6th to be precise.

Meanwhile, our December appeal for volunteers brought some offers of help – thank you very much to those who came forward. Weekends are still a bit precarious in terms of staffing – so don’t be shy! We shall still be glad to hear from you, even if you can only help once a month or so.

Thank you to all our customers – it has been a good year overall.

Local Greetings Cards

Rich Cornock cards

Local Dairy Farmer Rich Cornock has created his own greetings cards, using photographs taken at New House Farm in Tytherington.

The farm is run with great consideration for wildlife conservation, and the set of four cards reflects this.

The cards are now available to buy at the shop.

Volunteers needed for all shifts

The shop is run by volunteers but needs more to be able to continue with its current opening hours, particularly at weekends.

If you are interested in helping either on a casual or regular basis to cover 2hr shifts, please speak to Debbie in the shop or on 417618 or 07850 209574 to discuss the days and times at which you could help.

If Debbie is not available, please leave your contact details and she will contact you as soon as possible.

A Year on a Dairy Farm

A Year on a Dairy Farm

Richard Cornock, from Tytherington's New House farm, has also published his first book, and you can buy your copy at the village shop.

In a beautiful and diverse collection of photographs, A Year on a Farm captures the day to day workings of a family-run farm. Tree planting, hedge laying, ploughing fields, planting maize, making hay, calving cows, picking fruit: these are all activities which make up the farming year, set against the striking changing landscape of the region.

As well as depicting the various activities which make up farming life, A Year on a Dairy Farm introduces the characters that make it happen, and the animals, farm, domestic and wild, which are the lifeblood of the farm. Originally intended as a very personal book for immediate family only, A Year on a Farm is a perfect record of what makes a dairy farm tick at all times of the year and in all weathers.

  • Letters and packages to post?
  • Need stamps for bulk mailings/Christmas cards?
  • Can’t get to Tytherington Post Office during its opening hours?
  • Working and can’t face the lunch time queue at the Post Office near work?
We have already helped some customers resolve similar problems. HOW???

For example: Customers have come into the shop when it opens at 7.30am, weighed their package(s) to get an idea of cost and left them and the cash for payment with a member of the shop staff to give to the Tytherington post office staff when the Post Office opens.

The receipt and any change have been left in the shop to be collected during shop opening hours when it is convenient for the customer.

We would like to extend this service to other customers to help them make the most of the village’s Post Office to which they are contributing through their Council Tax.

Please note that we cannot accept any packages or requests for other services via the Tytherington Post Office without sufficient cash being left.

If you want to know more or have something that you think we can help you with to make sure you get best use of Tytherington Post Office then please talk to a member of staff or Debbie Brock, Shop Manager, Tel: 01454 412926

REMEMBER use the Tytherington Post Office services as often as you are able, otherwise we may lose it.
