Fundraising Latest...

CCTV cameras have been installed and are working thanks to the kind donation from Thornbury Carnival and the Tytherington Marquee.

However there is still a shortfall that we are trying to raise in the meantime.

The shop is also raising money to build a new stock room. Magnox (Oldbury Power Station) have promised £3,000, and the shop is now looking for other local companies to contribute.

Tytherington in the Past, by Alan Baddeley

Following the death of Ronwen Baddeley, the family have released the remaining copies of this well-researched, illustrated history of Tytherington.

The book is on sale in the Village Shop at a cost of £10 with all proceeds going to the shop. For further details contact Janice Cornock on 01454 413358.

A Year on a Dairy Farm

A Year on a Dairy Farm

Richard Cornock, from Tytherington's New House farm, has published his first book, and you can buy your copy at the village shop.

In a beautiful and diverse collection of photographs, A Year on a Farm captures the day to day workings of a family-run farm. Tree planting, hedge laying, ploughing fields, planting maize, making hay, calving cows, picking fruit: these are all activities which make up the farming year, set against the striking changing landscape of the region.

As well as depicting the various activities which make up farming life, A Year on a Dairy Farm introduces the characters that make it happen, and the animals, farm, domestic and wild, which are the lifeblood of the farm. Originally intended as a very personal book for immediate family only, A Year on a Farm is a perfect record of what makes a dairy farm tick at all times of the year and in all weathers.

  • Need stamps for bulk mailings/Christmas cards?
  • Can’t get to Tytherington Post Office during its opening hours?
  • Working and can’t face the lunch time queue at the Post Office near work?
We have already helped some customers resolve similar problems. HOW???

For example: Customers have come into the shop when it opens at 7.30am, weighed their package(s) to get an idea of cost and left them and the cash for payment with a member of the shop staff to give to the Tytherington post office staff when the Post Office opens.

The receipt and any change have been left in the shop to be collected during shop opening hours when it is convenient for the customer.

We would like to extend this service to other customers to help them make the most of the village’s Post Office to which they are contributing through their Council Tax.

Please note that we cannot accept any packages or requests for other services via the Tytherington Post Office without sufficient cash being left.

If you want to know more or have something that you think we can help you with to make sure you get best use of Tytherington Post Office then please talk to a member of staff or Debbie Brock, Shop Manager, Tel: 01454 412926
